About  Cohasset, MA

Cohasset is home to over 8,500 people and is a small town in Norfolk County, Massachusetts. Located 15 miles away from Boston, it isn’t too far away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Cohasset is considered one of the best places to live in Massachusetts, due to its laid back charm yet vibrant cultural centers and stunning coastline.

Cohasset is home to several beaches including both Black Rock Beach and Pleasant Beach. A town of great historical significance, Cohasset was first seen by Europeans through explorer Captain John Smith in 1614 and settled in the 1670s. The town’s original name meant a long rocky place in Algonquian, and initially, the town wasn’t called Cohasset at all but was part of Hingham town until 1770. 

With a proud maritime history, Cohasset is home to the Maritime Museum and the Captain John Wilson Historic House. Captain John Wilson’s former home is set up as it was in 1850 to give visitors the taste of the life of a sea captain and his family. Cohasset Historical Society owns the house and also has its own museum to share some of the local history and customs. 

Cohasset is also home to three thriving Shopping Centers, including the Tedeschi Shopping center and the Cohasset Plaza Shopping Center.
